Coming off the back of the previous weeks disappointing draw with Rangers, Forfar Farmington looked to set a high tempo from the off against their Highland visitors.
The opening five minutes saw the home side have a number of chances on goal, with the best of these being a Julia Scott header which flew just past the post. Sticking to their task, Farmington got their rewards in the 10th minute when Nicky Grant supplied Scott with the ideal ammunition to fire the opener past Kim Jappy. The same duo combined four minutes later, but this time Scott’s curled shot sneaked just past Jappy’s far post. Two minutes later Lucy Graham netted her first of the match and Farmington’s second when she steered her shot into the bottom corner of the net. A 22nd minute short corner saw Emma McCulley produce a volleyed finish that whistled by Jappy as Farmington extended their lead. Four minutes later Graham scored again; this time benefiting from some great interplay between Grant and Scott. The goals would keep coming for Farmington, with the next arriving only two minutes later. A well flighted corner was knocked back into the danger area first time by Fay Hughes to find McCulley who knocked the ball home. McCulley looked to turn provider six minutes later, her searching rear post cross just eluding Nicky Grant. Grant decided that it was about time she added her own name to the score sheet and when, left unchallenged outside the box in the 41st minute, she chose to produce a superlative curled effort which gave the Farmington number 19 a well-deserved goal. Graham nearly secured her hat-trick on the stroke of half time but her angled shot failed to hit the target. With a six goal first half haul witnessed, those in attendance had every right to expect a second half of the same, however they would be left disappointed as the home side failed to recapture their scintillating first half killer touch. Indeed Hannah Markley came close to pulling one back for Inverness in the 51st minute when Cat Fitzsimmons had to touch her lofted effort onto the bar before mopping up the subsequent danger. The second period would not be totally devoid of goals however, with the 59th minute seeing McCulley secure her hat-trick with a well taken low finish. Not to be outdone Lucy Graham secured her own hat-trick with five minute on the clock; just reward for a fine outing for the Farmington youngster. Farmington now host Hutchison Vale at Strathmore Park on Wednesday evening with a 7.30pm kick off.
