Forfar travelled to a blustery Broxburn knowing that a victory would see them leapfrog their hosts into 2nd place in the SWPL

Nicky Grant returned to the starting line up in place of the injured Caroline Heron, whilst Joanna Collier replaced Sam Milne.

The game kicked off with the visitors playing into the strong wind, giving Hibs the wind assistance for the first period. Joelle Murray saw the winds effect in the 5th minute when her well struck shot was forced well off target. Three minutes later Claire Emslie found herself unmarked and drove inside, but could only fire her shot over the bar. On the quarter hour mark Farmington passed up a gilt edged opportunity to take the lead when a cut back ball was missed by all parties, with the Hibs defence acting quickly to clear the danger down field. It came as no surprise to see the wind play it’s part in the games opening goal, when in the20th minute Kirsty McLaughlin fired off a well struck long range shot that whistled over the top of Fitzsimmons and onto the net. Despite going a goal down and playing into the wind Farmington looked to find an equaliser immediately. A terrific surging run from Lucy Graham saw the ball cut back to Nicky Grant whose shot clipped the outside of Shannon Lynn’s left hand post. The last real chance of the half came with five minutes left on the clock when Laura Kennedy fired into the hands of Ftizsimmons.

Conditions continued to deteriorate in the second half, and any hopes of a classic were blown away in the by now not too inconsiderable wind. Although playing with the wind, Farmington were unable to pick the lock of a resilient Hibs defence. Alana Bruce and Caren Webster were both introduced to give a fresh attacking drive, with the latter coming close with a near post shot in the 63rd minute. No real chances would be forthcoming for either side and come full time it was the Edinburgh side who remained 2nd in the Scottish Women’s Premier League
