Forfar Blues continued there winning ways with a comfortable win over a capable Arbroath team on Saturday. Arbroath played much better than the scoreline suggests and were denied on several occasions only by a string of top notch saves from Sherie Stewart in goal. This was, however, a sterling whole team performance with no obvious weaknesses in any position. With Carrie Hoggan unavailable, limited cover required regular changes which the players coped with well. As well as taking the chances they had, what was really impressive was the way that Forfar passed the ball which allowed them to switch play and make space. Forfar started the better with Lois Miller scoring in off the post after a well-worked combination move after a couple of minutes. The second followed soon after as Leila Strachan was released through the middle by Caitlin Mitchell, whose initial shot was well saved by the Arbroath keeper but she could do nothing when Erin Thomson pounced on the rebound to score from three yards. Strachan scored the third goal when the Arbroath goalie was unlucky with the bounce of the ball. Tricky play by the Arbroath No17 on the right hand side was causing problems and may have led to a goal but for the cover provided by the excellent Bethany Moir and Leah White in defence. Arbroath came more into the match towards the end of the second half but were denied a goal by the safe hands of Stewart in goal. Forfar pushed on in the second half and extended their lead when Miller scored on the rebound after a well worked move. Strachan scored again shortly after with a strong shot low into the right hand corner of the net leaving the goalkeeper with no chance. Georgie Braithwaite came on and denied Arbroath several chances with well timed tackles and interceptions. Mitchell scored the next two goals, the second after a neat pull back and feint to create the space for a strong shot into the goal from close range. After a reshuffle by Coaches Jane McFarlane and Ed Thomson, White scored the last two goals after being moved into offence.
