Farmington Blues U-13s continued their fine run with another victory last weekend at Charlotte Street in Dundee

Dundee West had the first chance of the match, with a strong shot low to the left, which was saved brilliantly by Sherie Stewart with a diving one handed save. Forfar responded quickly when Caitlin Mitchell scored the first of her five goals direct from the corner. Another two goals followed quickly from Leila Strachan and Caitlin Mitchell to give Forfar a comfortable lead. Both teams were playing confidently with good link play. Dundee west scored with a well placed shot from an indirect free kick in the packed Forfar goalmouth, after the goalkeeper inadvertently picked up a pass back. Mitchell scored again before the break to restore Forfar’s lead. Both teams were enjoying this open game with friendly competition in all area’s of the pitch.

Dundee West started the second half strongly with a fantastic strike on the volley to reduce the deficit. Forfar lost their way a while in the second half without losing control of the game. However they came back into the game strongly to score several goals before the end of the match. Lois Millar’s well struck shot found the bottom corner and Forfar’s satisfying performance was rounded off when Mitchell scored a header from a Strachan cross, and then the last of her goals with a left foot shot from the edge of the box after Erin Thomson crossed with accuracy into the box.

All players performed well and played an important part in the team performance. Sherie Stewart inspired confidence in goal. The defence of Leah White, Bethany Moir, and Georgie Braithwait was robust with players tackling hard, and passing really well. The midfield of Carrie Hoggan, Lois Millar, Caitlin Mitchell, Erin Thomson and forward Leila Strachan linked up well to create an abundance of opportunities.
