The SWPL side emerged with a perfect ten this afternoon at Strathmore Park against Kilmarnock.

Farmington made two changes to the starting line up for their match up with Kilmarnock. Sam Milne replaced the injured Emma McCulley, whilst Claire Garrett replace Iona Colville. New signing Stephanie Milne (full story to follow) took a place on the bench.

Forfar set to task immediately and duly took the lead in the 2nd minute. A Caren Webster cross was met cleanly by Scott who fired the ball past the visiting custodian. The provider then turned goal scorer as Webster reaped the rewards of good interplay between Rachael Small and Nicky Grant, to strike the ball home with some authority. Scott successfully rounded the keeper in the 13th minute, but saw her shot blocked, with a shot from distance a minute later also failing to make it into the net. In the 26th minute a Scott corner was met perfectly by Kelly Clark who nodded the ball home. Milne was bossing the Farmington midfield in typical fashion, but was dreadfully unlucky to see her driven shot scamper just past the post in the 36th minute. A minute later Small saw her own effort suffer a similar fate. There would be another home goal before the half time break however; A lofted ball into the box was met by a combination of Grant and Hughes, with the later securing the credit for lobbing the ball high into the net.

In similar fashion to the first half, the home side scored within two minutes of the re-start, and it was Scott the scorer again. After powering down the left flank the Farmington number 8 unleashed a driven shot the left the embattled Kilmarnock goalkeeper with no chance. Steph Mile and Lucy Graham were introduced as an aid to keep the tempo high on what was an energy sapping surface. The change reaped rewards in the 55th minute when Scott’s driven run and pass carved the Kilmarnock defence wide open to give Nicky Grant the easiest of finishes. Despite the score line, Kilmarnock continued to work hard and strove to drive forward when possible. However they found Cat Fitzsimmons in no mood to concede a clean sheet. In the 64th minute substitute Caroline Heron beat the keeper from close range, and a minute later Scott’s cross was met by an inrushing Lucy Graham who expertly guided the ball into the net. Heron and Graham both had chances saved as the game entered its final stages, but it would be Scott who would orchestrate the games closing movement. With two minutes left to play a foul on Graham produced a free kick which was flighted into the box by Bruce to be headed home by Scott, and on the brink of full time Scott drove down the right flank with the ball only to thunder a magnificent effort from fully 30 yards past the Kilmarnock goalkeeper.

This was an improved performance from Farmington, who seem all the better for having suffered the previous months blip in results. Next up is at trip to Spartans on Sunday.
