Farmington Reserves lost narrowly 2-1 this afternoon to Queens Park in Glasgow

The Reserves got their season off to a start in the shadow of the National Stadium Sunday 11th March with a promising performance against a well organized Glasgow side.

Creating the majority of the chances in the first half with Emily Phillips crashing a free-kick against the cross bar and strong running Emma Percy coming close it was left to a Judy Young trade-mark pile driver to give the Forfar girls the lead at half time.

The Spiders threat increased after the break as the huge 3G Hampden pitch sapped the energy of Russell Todd's young side and it was no surprise when the equalizer came on the hour mark. The Angus outfit refused to lie down though and player of the match Cheryl Rigden was a constant threat to the home side with her aggressive running and tackling.

The winner came ten minutes from the end when a lapse in concentration allowed the Queens striker to notch from close in.

With many good individual displays on the day and fifteen year old keeper Charlotte Tasker making her S.W.F.L debut the Forfar coaching staff can only be optimistic for the coming season.
